Business Link West Midlands

In late 2007 we became a provider for Business Link West Midlands (BLWM) and grew to become their main business start-up support provider in Worcestershire. We continued to work with BLWM until its closure in late 2011.

Aim High

Was a  project which was launched to enable men and women with disabilities and those who are lone parents, to become self employed.

The programme
provided information, advice and guidance in areas such as business planning, marketing and finance and enabled clients to produce a business plan and where required to apply for business funding.

The Balancing Act

This project was designed to engage with women with time constraints, usually due to caring responsibilities.  Here they could learn about and become self-employed, on a part time basis, with the potential to expand their economic activities as their caring responsibilities evolve, thereby maintaining a viable work-life balance while contributing to the UK’s economy. Emphasis was placed upon the need to set realistic and achievable business objectives enabling the work-life balance to be maintained.

Take Control

This project was aimed at female offenders, who were looking at setting up their own businesses upon release from prison. The objective of this project was to empower, mentor and plan their business thereby enabling them to discover and realise their full potential in self-employment. This was achieved through an initial assessment, 1:1 advice sessions and workshops where we identified their business ambitions, vocational and core skills levels, and barriers and plan their business within the constraints of their sentence.
